What is the Assignment?
You’ll write an argument in response to one essay from the list given below. Scroll down to the second-last box to see the titles. Choose what you like and can connect with.
Don't re-explain the essay. Make an argument about the topic. You could agree or disagree with what the author says, or you could even take the topic of the essay and focus on arguing about the topic itself. In other words, don't analyze the reading. Create your own new argument about it.
Remember: You're simply adding your two cents to the topic argued by the author, and you're making an argument.
Essentially, you'll put in your opinion in the form of an argument on the topic addressed by the author, and as you give your opinion, it's important to refer back to the author.
Outside research is not necessary, but if you want to research and bring in one or two sources, that's acceptable.
Follow the elements you've mastered so far:
• An introduction that summarizes the issue
• A thesis statement that takes a stand
• Paragraphs that explain, argue, and prove your point of view.
• State a counter argument and refute that counter argument.
Three points extra credit to papers that annotate the above-mentioned bullet points
