24/7 Chat Service Now Available

24/7 Chat Ask A Librarian Live Chat

The L & LC is pleased to announce a new service: 24/7 Ask A Librarian Live Chat, offering round-the-clock access to REAL, non-bot, expert librarians. What makes this amazing service possible? The L & LC belongs to a 24/7 Chat Cooperative, staffed by librarians in California, other states, and sometimes even other countries. It's exciting and the L & LC is happy to offer it to the MJC community.

What Is Research Help, Exactly?

Here are some typical research questions librarians receive, both in person and on chat:

  • Can you give me information about the economy of Central Asia?
  • I need help finding an article that talks about someone who had a great impact on the sports medicine field.
  • Can you help me find some primary sources on the Gold Rush and its primary effect on California communities?
  • I need help finding a source for a speech.
  • Can you check my Works Cited page?
  • Help me find a peer-reviewed article about artificial intelligence.
  • Is this website considered a credible source of information?

These types of questions are exactly what librarians help with. And now, those questions can be answered, even after hours when we're closed. And that can be important, especially for online courses where students don't come to campus to visit the L & LC or when any student needs help outside our regular hours.

Accessing 24/7 Chat

You can find 24/7 Chat the same way you use our regular chat service: Go to Ask A Librarian and begin a chat using the form!  24/7 Chat is available during regular semesters.
