Know Before You Go: Print Fees

image of printerThe L & LC is a hive of activity, and we want you to be ready for action when you visit us! One big change inside the libraries is that students should be ready to pay for prints: On July 1, the college reinstated printing fees. We are using the Go-Print card system to manage prints--this will be familiar to long-time members of the MJC community.

Cost of Printing

Students purchase an initial card to pay for copies & hold on to the card for the semester, adding more value as needed. Costs as follows: B/W copies/prints: .10/pg; color copies/prints: .15/pg.

Two-sided printing counts as 2 copies, FYI.

Know Before You Print

  • GoPrint cards cost $1.00. Paper currency only, so save a dollar bill to bring in next time you come to the L & LC.
    • 50 cents is charged for the card and 50 cents is added to the card for printing.
  • Keep the card & continue to add funds at GoPrint machines using cash only. Can use $1 or higher bill. We do not recommend loading a large balance as the cards can be lost or broken.
  • MJC's Business Office will not issue refunds for unused balances or lost/damaged GoPrint cards.
  • Replacement cards will not be provided; a new card must be purchased.

Students needing in-person assistance with printing, scanning or copies should ask a staff member or a student ambassador. Online assistance is available through the Ask A Librarian chat or email ask@mjc.libanswers.com.

How Instructors Can Support Students

Many students do not have printers at home and rely on the L & LC for printing their documents. As an alternative, instructors are encouraged to use Duplicating to create printed handouts for their students when possible.

We welcome your feedback on this and any other aspect of L & LC services. Thank you.
