Leading Students Beyond Google: Effective Research Assignments for the 21st Century

Connecting Students and Libraries

Faculty, staff, deans and other administrators can significantly contribute to an information competent campus by helping us institutionalize information competency skills. Here are some quick, simple ideas:

  • Include information competency in your course curriculum
  • Create assignments that build IC skills
  • Develop a relationship with your Library liaisons
  • Invite librarians to provide research instruction for your students
  • Encourage students to attend open library workshops
  • Encourage students to visit the library for research assistance
  • Invite a librarian to division/departmental meetings
  • Include the library in your mentoring programs
  • Include the library in events for new faculty (FT and/or PT)

Faculty Librarians

What Do Librarians Do?

Your library faculty colleagues are here to work with you to help our students succeed by offering a multifaceted instructional support program that includes information literacy instruction for classes and individualized research help.

Librarians are also here to work with you on your own research interests.

Librarians also work diligently to build and maintain collections of a wide variety of materials that support the curriculum at Modesto Junior College. We welcome your contribution to this endeavor.

Your Librarian Liaisons:

Your librarian liaison is your ticket to all things "library" at the Library & Learning Center.
