We have a variety of classes, workshops, and research guides to help you learn how to use the library to conduct research effectively and efficiently

Take a Class for Credit

We currently offer one three-unit course entitled LIBR 100: Research Methods & Media Literacy. This course gives students a comprehensive introduction to information competency skills and prepares students to complete college-level research assignments such as papers and speeches successfully.

Research Skills Learning Modules - Coming Fall 2025

Beginning in the Fall Semester 2025, you can complete six modules in Canvas where you'll learn research skills that will help you:

  • Understand why information matters
  • Learn to master the research process
  • Learn to choose a topic and develop your focus
  • Identify different types of information and sources
  • Master searching for credible information
  • Learn to evaluate information
  • Learn to paraphrase, quote, and summarize
  • Understand academic integrity and why citations matter
  • Cite your sources and format your paper following professional writing styles
