Adventures in Research

Hello. My name is Stella Beratlis, and I am the MJC librarian assigned to help Nursing and Allied Health students navigate the world of academic research. I am the person you get in touch with whenever (and where ever) you need help:

  • Getting started with a research-based project
  • Finding the appropriate type of sources for your project
  • Finding the appropriate number of sources for your project
  • Evaluating sources to ensure they are scholarly enough for your project
  • Citing sources in the format required by your professor
  • Overcoming any obstacles that may come up while researching
  • Taking a final look at your project before turning it in

Working one on one with students is absolutely the best part of my job, so please do not hesitate to contact me.

Aside from the usual ways to get research help (see the Get Help box on the left!) Your can get directly in touch with me in any of the following ways:

  • Via email at This is the best way to set up an appointment or even get an answer to a quick question.
  • By phone at (209) 575-6949.
  • In person in the West Campus Library & Learning Center, Yosemite 235. Appointments work best, but if I'm available, I'd love to help you. I'm in the West Campus Library & Learning Center on Mondays & Wednesdays, 9 am - 4 pm, and Tuesdays from 1-4 pm. I'm at East Campus on Tuesday mornings and all day Thursdays.
