What is an Almanac?

In the traditional sense, an almanac is a publication containing astronomical and meteorological data for a given year that often includes other miscellaneous information. The Old Farmer's Almanac is a great example of this type of publication. We've come to think of atlases as annual publications containing statistical, tabular, and general information. The World Almanac and Book of Facts is an example of this later definition.
