Research Topic: What is lightning--really?
Research Questions:
- What is lightning? (general description, heat, speed, duration, frequency, where it occurs geographically, etc.)
- What causes lightning? (how lightning is formed)
- What are some of the consequences of lightning? (to human safety, atmospheric composition, etc.)
Research Topic: Why is the seawater temperature off the California coast so cool?
Research Questions:
- How does the water temperature along California's coast compare with areas of similar latitude?
- What process causes the water to be so cold? (i.e. where does the cold water come from?)
- What are some important effects of all this cold water along our coast?
